Present Moments: Reflections of Assisi
Present Moments is a series of photographs of Assisi, Italy that capture the beauty and serenity of this medieval town. Photographer Mary Kay Fry
shares with us her experience of finding peace through the art, architecture and people of this timeless place.
As a child, Fry was fascinated with stories of St. Francis of Assisi, and his wonderment of nature and all living creatures. His teachings of peace, simplicity and harmony greatly influenced Fry's journey for peace and her subsequent photographs of Assisi during a time of personal pain.
Present Moments: Reflections of Assisi is drawn from Fry's larger body of work, Peace Prints,. The images reveal the subtlety of the photographic transfer print method Fry used to catch the beauty and uniqueness of the Italian light.
Selected engagements: Galleria "Le Logge" de Assisi, July, 2007
Mary Kay Fry
Mary Kay Fry was raised in Idaho and Nevada and graduated from the University of Santa Clara, CA. At a young age she traveled with her family throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India and was witness to her fatherÃs sensitive ability to capture in his photography peoples of various cultures and their passion for life. This greatly influenced her artistic development, as did her subsequent marriage to professional free-lance photographer George Fry whose work has been published for over 25 years.
Fry lives and works in Santa Barbara, CA. She will return to Assisi, Italy this July for the premier opening of Present Moments from her ongoing series PeacePrints.
